Different Flower Arrangement Designs

Flowers bring beauty, grace, life, color, and Earth to any wedding. Thinking of which flowers would look nice can seem confusing and overwhelming on top of all other planning. However, you can work with your wedding coordinator and come up with creative and well suited ideas for your flower arrangements by bringing together key elements. These unmistakable decorations are easily thought of last and can be rushed. Taking the extra time to consider unique options may bring about surprise and a feeling of comfort for you and your guests.

Most couples know right away the location they wish to have their wedding. It's often a place they find togetherness, peace, and happiness. The theme is paired with the venue for a full circle combination. So, it makes sense to have the flowers match everything as well. It's not just the flowers which are a part of the design, but the holder, the space around it, and the mood it brings about.

Japanese flower arranging is most often called Ikebana, meaning "living flowers", but is also called kadō, meaning the "way of the flower". It is a minimalistic disciplined art form. The concept is to create simplicity with an emphasis on shape, lines and forms using mostly stems and leaves instead of numerous flowers. Its expression subtly exudes emotion like no other and can be a perfect addition to any modern style wedding.

If you’re by a body of water, there are several ways to add interest and make excellent arrangements. Here are a few examples:

Waterfall Style: If your ceremony is near a mountain stream or waterfall, using moss in wide ascending pots creating steps, with cool tone colored flowers will bring nature to the event without having to be right next to it. Waterfalls and streams can be a bit too adventurous for some, so using the decorations is a good way to bring that setting to you. Not to mention moss is very soft, fun to feel, and its color will match any other plant.

Ocean Style: Vast, big and blue the ocean draws millions around the world. Putting shells in the bottom of glass vases is a classy and bright idea. Also on the tables you could place small green glass bottles with light toned colored flowers leaving the cork by its sides. The ocean also offers other treasures undiscovered by many. Drift wood can add some amazing texture, lines, and interest to any display. Sand may be too messy for some, so if you don't like that idea, using tall sea side grass can add greenery and perspective to any event.

Lake Style: Lakes are already surrounded by foliage and tree lines, so using small table top decorations in unique vases are a good idea. Mini canoes in holders, to keep them upright, will not only match your even, but intrigue your guests.

Not everyone lives near a body of water, so if your event is inland there are some unique ideas which you can incorporate. Using terra cotta or unglazed clay pots are earthy and soft looking. If you’re using glass, you can put smooth round rocks in the base for added texture and shape.

Having a vision is a great start for you and your wedding planner to get the wheels turning. However, new and unique ideas can make your day even better than you originally expected it to be. Think outside the box, have fun with it, and get creative!

Caring for Your Bridesmaids....

The time leading up towards your wedding can be very stressful and emotional. Your bridesmaids are there to offer you any support you need, whether it lending their ears to listen to your woes about the caterer to matching the loops to the right buttons when bustling the train. It's important to remember your bridesmaids are giving up a significant chunk of their free time and money; they live busy lives of their own and can't make their world revolve your wedding. Treat them with courtesy and respect!!

Below are some Do's and Don'ts:

Do start things off right with a get together or at least some form of communication introducing the girls to one another; providing contact information.

Do give your bridesmaids plenty of notice regarding dates and deadlines. You can delegate a lot of this to your MOH, which will help ease your mind.

Do provide your bridesmaids with information regarding what you want to see on your wedding day: dress, jewelry, hairstyle, shoes and so on...If you decide to gift your bridesmaids with these item(s) its not only generous but also a great way to exercise some control over style.

Do be courteous of your bridesmaids body types and skin tones when choosing a style and color for their dresses. You want to them to be comfortable.

Don't put too much pressure or expectations on your bridesmaids. They are special to you (reason why you selected them to be in your wedding) Your wedding should not be another full job for them, they are here to help support you.

Don't misbehave - you can ruin life long relationships - always treat your bridesmaids with respect.

Choosing the Right Bridal Gown for YOU!

As a bride, you want your dress to represent you; your sense of style, taste and tradition. Before you get lost in the blizzard of bridal fashion terms for sleeves, necklines, and trains, consider the basic outline of the dress. The silhouette for bridal gowns fall into five broad categories: (1) Ball Gown, (2) Empire, (3) Princess or A Line, (4) Sheath, and (5) Mermaid, – and each of these shapes has strong advantages and disadvantages, depending on your particular figure.

Ball Gown ~ The ball gown silhouette is the most romantic of all bridal silhouettes. It is typified by a fitted bodice and a small waistline (natural or dropped) that leads into a very full skirt. It’s most flattering to women who are average height with hourglass or full figures. The skirt of this gown will overwhelm a petite bride.

Empire ~ The empire gown has a high waistline (right under the bust) which falls to a slimmer skirt width. Traditionally flatters the small breasted and thick-waisted women. The raised waist creates a long line, ideal for petite brides.

Princess / A Line ~ The style’s name comes from the triangle (or A shape) it has vertical seams from the shoulder to the hem, the result is a “fit and flare” effect without a define waist. This gown is suitable for a variety of fabrics and flatters most body shapes including petites and full figures.

Sheath ~ The slim skirt is a key attribute of a sheath silhouette. This gown will show off your curves and depending on the weight or drape of the fabric the effect of the dress will differ. It’s a great look for tall, slim-hipped or petite, slender brides.

Mermaid ~ A variation of a sheath is the mermaid style gown. This gown is a body-hugging silhouette like the sheath, but the skirt flares out at the knee or just below it. Flatters the tall and hourglass figures, not recommended for the pear shape brides.

I find a good way to simplify your shopping is to first decide which styles are most flattering to you, and then start with trying on those dresses. Engage yourself in the most exciting purchase of your life and your perfect dress will be meticulously chosen.
